Pressure calibrator-controller ElMetro-Pascal
Pressure calibrator-controller ElMetro-Pascal (hereinafter referred to as “pressure calibrator”) is intended for pressure-vacuum measurement of connected volume (digital manometer mode) and its digital control (controller mode), it is applied as electronic reference device which forms and maintains pressure at the output with metrological accuracy. An external pressure source is required for pressure calibrator operation as a controller (compressor, bottle with compressed gas) and in case of vacuum (vacuum pump).
Pressure calibrator-controller ElMetro-Pascal is applied for a high-efficient and objective verification and calibration of pressure measuring instruments (PMI) – gauges and manometers. Pressure calibrator significantly simplifies calibration procedure making it quicker and more accurate. Due to digital control pressure calibrator executes specified operations in automatic and semi-automatic modes. Vacuum testing of pneumatic system is available.
Working principle of pressure controller mode:
Pressure calibrator-controller ElMetro-Pascal consists of high-precision internal and external modules (primary pressure transducers), a microprocessor unit which converts low level signals of primary transducers into digital indication in a display and a device which generates pressure.
Calibrator-controller combines functions of a high-precision manometer and accurate pressure regulator (controller) according to the manometer measurement results.
In a controller mode input supply pressure starts to come in to pressure calibrator output via the system of pneumatic valves and pneumatic capacities. Pressure of output pneumatic pipeline is measured by a reference pressure gauge signal from which controls electromagnetic valves. The valves operated in accordance to a specific algorithm pass on supply pressure to the output or on a contrary discharge output pressure into the atmosphere. Valves operation, combined and synchronized by a microprocessor unit, provides smooth pressure output at a set value without overregulation that is very important for variation check of pressure gauges and manometers. Depending on a selected pressure regulation mode, after a preset value is reached, the controller will switch to the next preset value automatically or by operator’s command.
Technical characteristics:
Pressure calibrator models differ by measurement and pressure reproduction ranges and are determined by the type of a built-in reference pressure module. Pressure calibrator could be supplied with reference pressure modules of different accuracy: A, B, C, D and E, only one reference module to be installed inside a pressure calibrator. On default it is used as operating reference module for pressure measurement and control. In each module whole pressure range is divided into sub-ranges one of which is selected from the instrument settings menu as an operating one, view Table 1.

** Modules with URL of 0.1 MPa, 10 kPa and 6.3 kPa could not be mounted into pressure calibrators and are applied only as external.
Besides a pressure calibrator could be connected to an external removable module of specified classes.
External modules enable to:
- extend measurement range to lower pressure values by means of external removable modules with a smaller pressure measurement range than internal ones;
- increase accuracy of pressure calibrators (including existing one) by means of external modules of higher class than internal ones;
- in case of long pneumatic communication lines with verified gauges an external reference module shall be installed nearby gauges and compensate pressure losses in the line.
Reproduction error of pressure controller:
Pressure calibrators have four structure types defined by upper measurement/regulation limit of excess pressure:
- type 1 – URL of internal module excess pressure: 0.2 MPa;
- type 2 - URL of internal module excess pressure: 0.7 MPa;
- type 3 - URL of internal module excess pressure: 2.0 MPa;
- type 4 - URL of internal module excess pressure: 3.5 MPa.
Pneumatic systems of pressure calibrators of these four types differ between each other. They have different pressure non-uniformity (regulation error) and make additive contribution to pressure reproduction error of controller, view Table 2.

- Minimum pressure/vacuum required for pressure calibrator operation*: at 5-10% higher than URL of operating module.
- Pressure/vacuum sources: pneumatic line, compressor, pressure accumulator (bottle) with a reductor, vacuum pump.
- Working temperature range: from +10 to +40 °С.
- Working medium: purified dry gas (class 1 of GOST 17433-80) does not consist oils and does not lead to corrosion.
- Power supply: 220 V ± 10%; 50-60 Hz; not more than 20 V·A.
- Power supply of a verified gauge: 24 V х 30 mA.
- Interface for connection to PC: RS-232 or USB (that enables to use pressure calibrator-controller ElMetro-Pascal and multichannel multimeter ElMetro-Kelvin in totally automated system for calibration of pressure gauges).
- Pneumatic port: G1/8.
- Instrument weight: not more than 7 kg.
- Average life-time: 8 years.
- Verification interval: 1 year.
- Guarantee commitment: 12 months from the date of putting into operation, but not more than 18 months from the shipping date from manufacturer factory.

- Functional unit (1) embodied in a metal housing with a LCD (2) and control keys in the front panel (3);
- Power supply cable with a connection slot for a device;
- Set of brass fittings with coupling nuts G1/8 (3 pcs. straight, 1 pc. forked);

- External reference pressure modules with a connecting cable (optional).
