Switched mode DC power supply source ElMetro-IPT
Switched mode DC power supply source ElMetro-IPT (hereinafter referred to as a “source”) is designed to provide power supply of primary and secondary measuring transducers and other communications electronics equipment. The source enables conversion of 220 V ± 20% network voltage into +24 V DC voltage. The source is equipped with galvanic isolation between input and output circuits. The source is produced in single-channel configuration.
Device description and working principle:
Working principle of power supply source is based on a scheme of a single-cycle pulse flyback converter which enables to increase the efficiency for the entire range of input voltages as well as to reduce the specific dimensions and weight.
In order to meet requirements to electromagnetic capability (EMC) and interference protection, input and output of power supply source are equipped with interference filters which protect internal circuits from external impacts and reduce noise level generated by pulse converter in the circuits of the power supply and the supply network.
Pulse converter is based on integral PWM-controller. Maintenance of output voltage with the required accuracy is provided by optic feedback of a line stabilizer and transistor optron.
Connection circuit of feedback coupling driver (line stabilizer) is constructed in such a way as to compensate all losses caused by ohmic circuits of output interference filter.
Switched mode DC power supply source ElMetro-IPT is intended for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail. The front panel of the source includes (view Pic. 1. Front panel of power supply source ElMetro-IPT):
- Green LED indicator (1). displays if power is supplied at the source output;
- Red LED indicator (2) signals emergency (overload);
- Slots for connecting external devices (3).

Technical characteristics and advantages:
- Number of output channels: 1.
- Removable terminal blocks.
- Permissible error of output voltage: ±1% of nominal voltage 24 V.
- Permissible error of output voltage at temperature changes per each 10 °С: not more than ±0.3%.
- Voltage regulation:
- for voltage changes between 180 and 260 V – not more than ±1.0%;
- for smooth changes of load current between zero and maximum value - not more than ±1.0%;
- for sudden changes of load current at 20% of nominal value – not more than ±1.2%.
- Output voltage ripples range: not more than 100 mV.
- The source is powered by a single-phase network of 176 to 264 V AC voltages with frequency (50±1) Hz.
- Nominal output power of the source is not less than 20 W (under ambient temperature Tenv= 50 °С and below). Under temperatures above 50 °С nominal output power (Wnom) is not less than Wnom = (125 - Tenv) / 4 W.
- Power supply source is equipped with electronic current limiting protection. Electronic protection is activated at (1.3±0.2) A.
- Performance efficiency under maximum load is not less than.
- Operation mode setup-time: not more than 15 s.
- Electrical isolation:
- 1500 V between power supply circuit and grounding terminal, between input and output circuits, between output circuit and grounding terminal.
- Electrical resistance of isolation between output electric circuits and power supply circuit; between output electric circuits and housing, between power supply circuit and grounding terminal under working voltage 500 V are not less than:
- 20 MOhm under ambient temperature (20±5) °С and relative humidity from 30% to 80%;
- 5 MOhm under ambient temperature (50±3) °С and relative humidity from 30% to 80%;
- 1 MOhm under ambient temperature (25±5) °С and relative humidity above (90±3)%.- Requirements to electromagnetic capability (EMC) и interference resistance:
- interference emission of the source meets the requirements of GOST R 51522-99 (IEC 61326-1-97) for equipment of class A.
- interference emission at the source output meets the requirements of GOST R 51318.22- 99 (IEC 61000-4-2-95). 4th test severity level (15 kV contact discharge). Criterion B.
- power supply source is resistant to radio-frequency electromagnetic field under 80-1000 MHz in accordance to GOST R 51317.4.3-99 (IEC 61000-4-3-96), 2nd test severity level (3 V/m). Criterion A.
- power supply source is resistant to nanosecond pulse interferences in accordance to GOST R 51317.4.4-99 (IEC 61000-4-4-95), 3rd test severity level. Criterion A.
- power supply source is resistant to microsecond pulse interferences of high energy in power supply circuits and could withstand test amplitude of 2 kV under "wire-to-earth" interference or 1 kV under "wire-to-wire" interference in accordance to GOST R 51317.4.5-99 (IEC 61000-4-5-95).
- power supply source is resistant to radio-frequency conducted interference of 150 kHz -80 MHz − in accordance to GOST R 51317.4.6-99 (IEC 61000-4-6-96) – 2nd test severity level (3 V/m rms value). Criterion A.
- The source is resistant to dynamic changes in power network voltage and can withstand the following test actions in accordance to GOST R 51317.4.11-99 (IEC 61000-4-11-94):
- voltage dips with test amplitude of 0.7 Upow within 100 periods (2000 ms);
- voltage swells with test amplitude of 1.2 Upow within 100 periods (2000 ms);
- voltage failures with test amplitude of 0.0Upow within 10 periods (200 ms) under maximum load voltage 60 mA and 5 periods (100 ms) under maximum load voltage 200 mA.
- The source is operated under 2 Ohm load sequentially with 400 µF.
- Ingress Protection Rating: IP20.
- Ambient temperature: from -40 to +70 °С.
- Reliability:
- mean time between failures – not less than 50 000 h;
- average life-time – not less than 12 years;
- average storability time in factory packaging in a heated place - not less than 6 years.
- Guarantee commitment: 18 months from the date of putting into operation.
- Weight: not more than 0.2 kg.
